Description

My first real post on this account! Of course this artwork is inspired by the amazing Arvalis! Check out his work if you haven't seen it (which is unlikely) - arvalis.deviantart.com/

Braviary are large predatory birds the feed primarily on the small fauna of their native Unova. They have blue stomach's used to blend them into the sky when seen from below. Their red backs are to look nice. They sport a mane pf feathers, which scientists have yet to discover a reason for having. They have large feathers adorning their head, which they use to attract mates. Males with the brightest colors and largest plumage get the females, who are much smaller and duller in color than their male counterparts. Because of this, nearly every Braviary held in captivity will be a male. Since males are much easier to spot in the wild, ancient Unovans believed that only male Braviary existed, and no breeding programs existed until fairly recently. Wild Braviary are becoming increasingly rare as introduced species from other regions are out competing them for food, and toxins from Unovan factories are seeping through their egg's thin shells cause the unborn Rufflet to die before hatching.

The adolescent form of Braviary are commonly referred to as Rufflet. They are noted for how long it takes them to reach maturity, one of the longest outside of 'Dragon' types. They have the same 'mane' of feathers that Braviary has, though it is smaller and a duller color. They often will fight with larger creatures in an attempt to mature faster.

Murkrow are the natural form of Honchkrow, before being exposed to a Dusk Stone. They will follow around larger hunters and eat the remains of their meals. They normally flock to Honchkrow, but it this case it appears as if a pair started to flock to the Braviary. It seems one got to close of comfort. Murkrow often fight with one another, causing them to lose feathers or loosen them, so when the start flapping faster, their feathers fall out, giving them a ragged appearance.

Patrat is stupid rat. This one got himself caught. Nice going Patrat.

I don't own Pokemon. I do, however, own this art.

Edit: I fixed some minor issues that were bugging me about Braviary itself. :iconkvilledrew: suggested some changes, mainly revolving around the feet, but I couldn't get anything that I liked, so I left them as they were for right now.

Really nice pic, what if this was a real bird? That would be cool. Just as long as you aren't next on it's prey list lol.
